Mitt Romney's campaign has seen North Carolina as a ripe opportunity to pickup one of President Obama's 2008 states, but polls there have shown a competitive race despite a bad state economy.
Polling has consistently shown Obama with a lead in Pennsylvania, but in recent weeks the size of that lead has narrowed, suggesting that Pennsylvania may be more of a question mark than had previously been thought. 
Dozens of state-wide ballot questions will be posed to voters in November, and their implications could reverberate across state lines.
