Random Fatal Crashes in Rural Areas

Indiana State Police have launched a special crash reduction enforcement program, on the ground and from the air. So far this year, police say the number of crashes in urban areas is down slightly, but the number of rural crashes and deaths has gone up – with no particular pattern, random fatal crashes occurring in unpredictable locations... but there've been common factors including driving off the edge of the road, failure to yield, disregarding traffic signals, unsafe speed; and driving left of center. The program will use marked and unmarked cars, aircraft patrols and state police vehicles that look like INDOT work trucks.
