Indiana State Police say cleanup was expected to take several hours after a semi tractor-trailer hauling a flammable liquid caught fire on the westbound Indiana Toll Road in LaPorte County overnight. At one point all lanes were closed at mile marker 58, which is just east of US 20 near Rolling Prairie. Traffic has been moving in both directions, but there were lane restrictions and there may be periodic closures are cleanup continues. There were no injuries reported.
Troopers say remaining diesel fuel and contents have to be offloaded to another truck before the truck that caught fire can be removed.
Indiana State Police at the Toll Road were reporting no injuries in an overnight semi accident and fire on the westbound Toll Road near Rolling Prairie, just east of US 20 in LaPorte County. Troopers say hazardous materials were involved, but specific information was not available at this time. At one point, all westbound lanes were blocked at mile marker 58. Police say the accident occurred around 12:30 am Central Time.
