No deposit, no return in Indiana for now, but will that change? A recent report in the Times said a group of glass and aluminum representatives encouraged a legislative panel downstate earlier this month to consider requiring a deposit on bottles and cans, like a nickel or a dime each. Only ten states, one of them being Michigan, have deposit laws.
On a related note... the very last returnable six-and-a-half ounce Coca-Cola bottle... that became a brand image for the soft-drink company... rolled off the line at the Winona, Minnesota Coca-Cola Bottling Co last week, according to the Winona Daily News.
In 1915, the Root Glass Company in Terre Haute won a design competition for Coca-Cola's iconic bottle, which was meant to be returned, and eventually refilled.
