Authorities are reportedly reviewing closed circuit camera video from a local business after a retired Steger firefighter was killed in a hit-and-run accident Sunday night in Crete. The Times reports 70 year old Leonard Bottando was struck by a vehicle while walking in the 13-hundredth block of Main Street, around 8:17 that night, and was pronounced dead at 12:18 Monday morning at Franciscan St. James Health hospital in Chicago Heights. Published reports say authorities are investigating this incident as a “reckless homicide” and that anyone with information is asked to please contact Crete Police.
