The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says State Road 55 in Newton County will reopen this afternoon between State Roads 10 and 14 at Knight Ditch near Roselawn. The stretch closed in August so crews could replace the bridge just north of County Road East 700-North.  INDOT spokesman Matt Deitchley says the new bridge replaces a much older wooden structure.  The new bridge, which is concrete, is a little wider, and one lane each direction, as it was before.
