A South Haven man was hospitalized after his home was consumed by fire this afternoon. The Times reports Russell Simcox was transported from the scene, on the 700th block of Heritage Road, with unknown injuries, after his neighbors reportedly dragged him from his front door into the yard, and that Simcox was allegedly bleeding from his head, and his hair was singed. Published reports say the South Haven fire Department, assisted by multiple agencies, were initially called out just before 2:30. The Times reports the fire caused the roof of the small ranch-style home to collapse, and that a couple of nearby Porter Township elementary schools to reroute their buses. At last check the cause of the fire is reportedly being investigated by the South Haven Fire Department and the Porter County Fire Investigation Strike Team.
