The Hobart Police Department's K-9 Unit on their Facebook page has posted a goodbye to their K-9 Rommel, who passed away Wednesday. Rommel was partnered with Corporal Simon Gresser and the department says K-9 Rommel did a lot for not only Hobart, but Northwest Indiana. The Hobart K-9 Unit on their Facebook page also says Rommel had a stroke a few weeks ago and continued to decline since the stroke. K-9 Rommel had retired, and was honored earlier this month at the Hobart Board of Public Works meeting for his more than eleven years of service.
