Downtown LaPorte is now the newest member of the Indiana Main Street Program, or IMS.. Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann made the announcement today, saying, “viable downtowns are crucial to the economic health of our state. By joining Indiana Main Street, LaPorte was taken an important step to developing a thriving downtown. The I-M-S is founded on a four-point approach to downtown development: organization, design, promotion, and economic restructuring...each of which represents an aspect of the downtown which is vital in the restoration efforts of the community.
