How do you get excited about planning a wedding? That's the question I have been asking myself for a couple of months now. Don't get me wrong, I am excited about spending the rest of my life with the man I love, I am not however, excited about spending thousands of dollars on one night of fun! Call me cheap, but there are other things I'd rather spend my money on, like a new house for instance so I can get outta my mom's basement! Well, I may have found the best way to get motivated... wedding dress shopping! I spent this weekend taking big steps in the wedding process... my first wedding dress shopping experience!
Gotta say I was pretty nervous about the idea, but it turned out wonderfully. (Big thanks to my sister and mom for the support and for getting me in and out of some of those things!) One misconception I have realized is, don't be afraid to go to the smaller boutiques. I thought the smaller the store, the more expensive and it wasn't exactly the case. (Yes there are some expensive gowns, but it's that way everywhere!) The smaller shops are way more helpful and in my opinion made the experience more enjoyable. The consultant helped pick out some dresses with no pressure, gave you your space, helped tie you in correctly, and offered to take pictures. In the big box store, I felt like a number. It was like you were cattle and they were herding you in and out. Not to mention our consultant didn't offer any help in and out of the dresses, nor did she have them ready to try on. Yes, bigger stores have more selection, but I felt for the money the quality was better at the smaller boutique! Was it like this for your gown experience?
Anyway, after two shops and four hours of trying on dresses I narrowed it down to two serious contenders! One is more simple and less expensive and the other is more elegant and slightly over my budget! That's why I'm sitting on both of them and deciding in a couple of weeks which one if any I will buy! Now, I want to do more wedding planning... what should be next?
