A new poll has found out most Americans would fail the US Citizenship Test! How confident are you that you would pass? (I'd put myself at 50/50!) The study, conducted by the Center for the Study of the American Dream at Xavier University, in Cincinnati, Ohio, found that one in three respondents would fail the civics portion of the test.
So what were some of the trouble spots? Seventy-five percent of respondents didn’t know what the judicial branch does, and 57 percent could not define an amendment! Here are some sample questions:
What is the supreme law of the land?
The idea of self-government is in the first three words of the Constitution. What are these words?
What is an amendment?
What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution?
What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?
We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years?
How Do You Think You Did? Here's The Answers:
(ANSWER - The Constitution)
(ANSWER - We the People)
(ANSWER - a change to the Constitution; an addition to the Constitution)
(ANSWER - The Bill of Rights)
(ANSWER – speech, religion, assembly, press, petition the government)
(ANSWER – 6)
Tests over!
