Indiana's statewide smoking ban takes effect July first...but there are a number of exceptions, including private clubs like American Legion Halls, who can opt to go smokefree, or not. Portage American Legion Post 260, for instance, is taking a vote among its members today. The city of Indianapolis adopted its own smoke ban, which just took effect on June first. A number of cities around the state and region already have varying versions of public place/ workspace smoke bans in effect, including Valparaiso, Chesterton, Crown Point, Lowell, Bloomington and West Lafayette.
