Hammond Police Chief Urges Heat Safety

Hammond Police Chief Brian Miller says this week he responded to a call that appeared to be about an intoxicated person lying on the pavement... but it turned out the older man was apparently extremely dehydrated, Miller says, and an alcohol test confirmed he had not been drinking. He was very disoriented Miller says, and transported to a local hospital. Miller is urging everyone to check on elderly relatives and neighbors, and remind them of the importance of drinking enough water when it's this hot.
