Police Activity in Valparaiso; Road Blocked

Valparaiso Police, Valparaiso Fire and EMS, and the Porter County SWAT team are at a business in the 1200 block of Roosevelt Road where police say a male subject is inside threatening to harm himself with a gun. Public Information Officer Sgt. Michael Grennes stresses the man is the only individual in the building and has been the only person inside since authorities responded shortly after 6-o'clock this morning.

Roosevelt Road is closed between Beech and Evans, and Roosevelt and roads around the 900 block of Roosevelt Road including Elm, Evans and Beech are also blocked at this time.
