Region "Cold Case" May Thaw

A “cold case” crime in the Region may start to heat up. Lake County Sheriff John Buncich is requesting the public's help in solving the 1979 strangulation death of Linda Carol Martin. Police say Martin left the Playboy Lounge which was located at 11th Avenue and Taft Street in Gary around midnight on February 21st, 1979. Her body was located near 2300 Rutledge Street several hours later. The Sheriff says there is currently an unnamed “person of interest” in the investigation.  Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Matt Eaton at (219) 755-3346.
