Combined August home sales for Jasper, Lake, LaPorte, Newton, and Porter Counties are up almost 21-percent from this time a year ago. The Greater Northwest Indiana Association of Realtors reports 818 homes were sold in the region in August, an almost 10-percent increase from the previous month, yet the median selling price fell two-point-two percent. Single-family homes in August in Lake County rose almost 25-percent from a year ago, and were up nearly 14-percent from the previous month, while single-family homes in August in Porter County jumped 19-and-a-half percent from the previous year, but registered only about a 2-percent increase from July's home sales.
