IRS Warns Public Officials

Richard Weber, Chief, IRS Criminal Investigation, says the individuals charged Thursday in Federal Court in Hammond, hold positions of public trust.  Chief Weber says unexplained wealth has always been the achilles' heel of those who criminally violate their position of trust.   Weber adds that public officials "who might consider illegally abdicating their responsibilities, enrich their pockets at the own peril."   He adds, the IRS "will continue to aggressively investigate allegations of public corruption and, where warranted, seek appropriate federal charges, including tax offenses."
