Lansing PD Investigating Series of Burglaries

Police in Lansing, Illinois, are asking for the public's help after a series of burglaries in the 36-hundred block of 186th Street. Lansing Police report the burglaries have occurred in the early morning hours, while residents of the condominiums were at home, and that in each instance, forced entry was made. Authorities say an investigation continues, and ask that anyone with information contact them, at any hour of the day or night. For information on steps to reduce the chances of being a victim, visit Region News at our website.
With these particular burglaries in mind, please be aware for the following:
  1. Anyone in or around the building who you do not recognize, especially at late hours.
  2. Someone calling or knocking on your door who does not live there.
  3. Someone who has gained access to a “secure” building, who does not belong.
  4. Parked vehicles that you do not recognize, either occupied for a long time or left running unattended.
  5. Someone carrying property out of the building at an unusual hour.
Some steps that can be taken to reduce the chances of becoming a victim:
  1. Keep your doors and windows securely locked at night and when you are not at home.
  2. Do not allow strangers into the building who you do not know, by either ‘buzzing’ them in or opening the door for them.
  3. Pay attention when pulling your vehicles into the garage, making sure that no one comes in uninvited behind you.
  4. Keep exterior lights on at night, and pay attention to make sure that they have not been disabled.
  5. Get to know your neighbors, and who they keep company with.
These investigations are on-going. If anyone has any information about this burglary, please contact the Lansing Police Department Investigations Division at 708-895-7150.
