A group of hospital employees from across the Region began a pilgrimage to Washington, DC, today. About thirty-five employees from Franciscan Alliance's Northern Region hospitals are taking a pilgrimage to the 40th annual March for Life in Washington D-C, happening tomorrow. Maria Ramos, spokesperson for the hospitals, said they boarded a bus around 7:30 this morning in Hammond, picked up another group in Michigan City, and are on their way right now.
"As a Catholic health care system and particiularly a Franciscan health care system, we hold some values very close, one of them being respect for life," Ramos said. "And the March for Life is very important to us because we believe in the dignity of life from conception to the end of natural life, and we just want to go and make our voice heard.
Franciscan Alliance Northern Region hospitals are Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Hammond and Dyer, Franciscan Physicians Hospital in Munster, Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City and Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point.
The group will document the pilgrimage and the March for Life on Twitter - @franciscannwi, #FAMarchforLife. Or, visit www.twitter.com/franciscannwi and enter #FAMarchforLife in the Search box.
