City of Gary Launches Social Media Contest "How Do You Love Gary?"
 
Happy Valentine’s Day! In honor of this “Day of Love,” Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson and the City of Gary social media team are launching an exciting online contest called “How Do You Love Gary?” The City of Gary is looking for the citizen with the most Love for Gary! Upload your video nominating yourself or someone you know for the chance to have lunch with Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson. Winners will also receive a FREE “I Love Gary” T-Shirt!
 
ABOUT THE CONTEST:
The City of Gary’s call to awareness of pride and love for the City of Gary. Our goal is to mobilize the caring power of our community to create positive lasting change in the areas of pride “in” and “for”, the City of Gary.
Towards that end, The City of Gary (hereafter ‘C.O.G’) is searching for everyday citizens who are changing their mindset about the City of Gary and showing great pride in the city. We are looking for extraordinary people who are making a positive impact on the city by their acts of kindness or by showing how they make a positive impact in their work. We invite all Gary, Indiana residents to nominate an individual or an organization which embodies the spirit of pride and love for Gary!
CONTEST DATES:
C.O.G’s “How Do You Love Gary” contest (“contest)” begins on Thursday, February 14, 2013. The last day to submit videos for the contest ends at 11:59 p.m. (CST) on Friday, March 1, 2013. The last day the public can vote on their favorite video is 11:59 p.m. (CST) on Sunday, March 3, 2013. The City of Gary is the official sponsor.
HOW TO ENTER:
a. Contestants will create an original video not to exceed: 90 seconds in length of someone or an organization who exemplifies what it means to show how they love Gary.
b. Self-nominations videos are also welcome.
c. Contestants can film and upload their own video. or, if you like, C.O.G can film and edit your nomination for free at videotaping designated area (TBD). ELIGIBILITY:
a. Residents of the City of Gary.
b. No purchase/contribution is necessary to enter a video or vote.
c. Valid ID with Gary, IN address
d. Contestants age requirement is 16 (with parent consent) and up
