Waseem Daker was sentenced on Oct. 1, 2012 to life in prison plus 47.5 years for the 1995 murder of flight attendant Karmen Smith and the repeated stabbing of her 5-year-old son, Nick. Daker acted as his own attorney, grilling both Nick Smith – now a young man – and Karmen Smith's roommate, Loretta Spencer Blatz. Before being tried for Smith's murder, Daker served ten years in prison for stalking Blatz. A jury convicted Daker of murder late last month.
