Winter Storm Impacts Indiana Travel

Indiana Department of Homeland Security News Release (Dec 26 2012):
INDIANAPOLIS - With high winds and significant amounts of snow in the forecast for much of Indiana, state officials are warning Hoosiers to prepare now.

Indianapolis Bracing for Blizzard

The National Weather Service says an extreme winter storm will impact holiday travel across a large portion of the Hoosier state, starting tonight. Areas across central and southern Indiana including Indianapolis and Bloomington are anticipating bliizzard conditions.  Forecasters say it could be the biggest snow storm to hit Indiana's capital city in four years.

Indianapolis Braces for Blizzard

The National Weather Service says Indianapolis could see its biggest snow storm in nearly four years starting tonight and continuing through the day Wednesday.  Blizzard warnings have been issued for many counties, including Marion County, in central Indiana, with other parts of the state also bracing for a major winter storm.

INDOT News Release December 25, 2012:  LAPORTE – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plow truck drivers are working overtime to ensure holiday travels are as safe as possible. Winfield Bank Robbery Suspects in Custody

A Gary man and a Crown Point woman are in custody at last check and charged with felony robbery regarding Friday's bank robbery of the First Midwest Bank in Winfield. The Lake County Sheriff's Office reports an intensive 72-hour investigation lead to today's arrest of the suspects, 24 year old Michael D. Anderson and 21 year old Rachel Mauger. Woman Dies After Tree Falls on Vehicle

A 36 year old Kingsford Heights woman died Saturday morning after being injured Friday evening when a tree fell on top of the vehicle she was a passenger in. The Times reports Sarah Swisher was in the backseat of the vehicle that was heading north along a heavily wooded area of Indiana 39, south of the LaPorte Municipal Airport, near Luhr County Park, around 6pm, when a tree fell on top of the driver's side roof. New Enbridge Pipline Construction Delayed

Construction on a new 36-inch diameter pipeline from Enbridge Engery LP designed to increase flow capacity between Griffith and Stockbridge, Michigan, along with a new 30-inch diameter pipleline from Stockbridge to eastern Michigan probably will not occur until late spring/early summer.
