Chair'ish the Children Reception and Auction on Wed.

All April long visitors at the Indiana Welcome Center were able to view a unqiue exhibit hosted by Prevent Child Abuse Lake County that celebrates children.  The exhibit titled, "Charish" the Children Art Project, held in conjuction with National Child Abuse Prevention Month culminates in a reception and silent auction.

Sharon Hylek of Prevent Child Abuse says the exhibit is actually a contest where middle school and high school studentsand adult organizations that work with children decorated child-size chairs, "artiscally representing what it means to cherish our community's children."

Hylek says the "Chair'ish the Children reception and silent auction is open to the public and will be held from 5pm - 7pm Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the Welcome Center, where a panel of local artists and teachers will judge the chairs.  She says the top three middle and high school entries will receive a cash prize for their art department but that every entry is a winner, "So, we also just want to recognize all the work that the kids did as well as our adult artists and we use that opportunity to auction off the chairs as well."   The chair in both the student and the adult categories with the most votes will be awarded “People’s Choice” during the reception.

Hylek adds that the silent auction is a great way to,  "take home some art."

Light refreshments will be served and a suggested donation of $5 will be accepted at the door.
