Ind Supreme Court Tosses Murder Confession

In a five-to-nothing decision, the Indiana Supreme Court has thrown out the murder confession of a 28-year-old Gary man. Justices ruled that a Gary detective went too far, toward the end of a three-hour interrogation, when he implied to the suspect, who is black, that his race precluded him from receiving a fair trial and impartial jury in Crown Point. The decision followed an appeal by McLynnerd Bond Jr, who was charged with murder in February 2011 in connection with a 2007 shooting death in Gary.
