Illinois Gay Marriage Law Now in Effect

Illinois has become the sixteenth state to legalize gay marriage. Today, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn was on hand for the same sex marriage of Jim Darby and Patrick Bova, a couple who have been together for 50 years.  Governor Quinn says, "I think it's very, very important that our state become a welcoming state. It's so important that we use the process of democracy to pass this landmark, historic law."

A handful of Illinois counties were allowing gay marriage for months before the statewide law went into effect on Sunday.
