Lake Co Poets Asked to Submit Poem for Bicentennial

In 2016, the state of Indiana will celebrate its bicentennial and to honor the event, the Indiana Bicentennial Commission is creating a “Birthday Book” of poetry. Lake County Public Library Reference Librarian Lynn Jackson told the Region News Team they are asking all Lake County poets who have resided in Lake County for at least one-year, or non-residents who lived in Lake County for over 12 years, to submit a poem of up to 40 lines, either by mail or address, to the Lake County Public Library, describing what the essence or spirit of Lake County means to you.

The best five poems will be chosen by the Lake County Public Library and sent off to Indianapolis for submission and final judging by Brick Street Poetry. There choice of the best poem will then be added to the “Birthday Book” to represent Lake County. The deadline for submission is September 23rd, 2014.
