An investigation continues after a crash involving a semi and a passenger vehicle early this morning on northbound I-65, five miles north of the Fair Oaks exit. Indiana State Police Lowell Post reports they received the call just after 2am and a preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by a 32 year old Rensselaer man, for unknown reasons, ran into the left rear of a semi loaded with child car seats. State Police say the car got hooked under the trailer, and as the semi pulled over to the side of the road, the car was dragged behind it, causing the car to ignite which soon led to the trailer catching fire. The Rensselaer man was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries and the semi driver was unhurt. Both vehicles and the contents of the trailer, appear to be a total loss and authorities say alcohol is suspected of being a contributing factor in the crash.
