The city of Gary will hold a naming ceremony on Friday for the late Mayor Rudolph “Rudy” Clay to rename a portion of Highway 20 in his honor. The ceremony will take place at 10am on the front steps of Gary City Hall and the public is invited. State Senator Earline Rogers, of Gary, who proposed the renaming, says Rudy Clay was a trailblazer in his ability to advocate for the needs of those in Gary and that renaming Highway 20 honors his legacy and service. In his 40 years of service, Clay served as a county councilman, a state senator and as mayor of Gary from 2006 to 2011. Clay passed away on July 2nd, 2013, at the age of 77 after a battle with cancer.
