A Griffith man was killed and four others were hurt in an accident that shut down the Borman in Lake Station for about two hours Tuesday evening. Indiana State Police say 20-year-old Joshua Garner was pronounced dead at the scene after the pickup truck he was driving struck the rear of a moving van that had stalled in the middle lane just west of Central Avenue around 5 pm. Four people ages 17, 18, 19 and 20, from Griffith, and Thornton and Lansing Illinois were hurt, two with injuries considered life-threatening. Troopers isay alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash.
