Valparaiso Police and Porter County SWAT Team are at the scene of a standoff in the 1000 block of Elmhurst on the west side of Valparaiso. Valparaiso Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Michael Grennes says a man in a house is threatening to harm himself. Police say there's no one else inside the house. Elmhurst Street and Bond Avenue are closed to traffic. Police responded shortly after 4pm.
