A bed bug feud sparked an altercation between two tenants Thursday evening. LaPorte Police report they were dispatched to an apartment house in the two-hundred block of Park Street, just after 5:30pm to investigate a battery complaint. Police say the victim informed officers he confronted his neighbor regarding a reoccurring bed bug problem inside the apartment house, claiming he had bombed his apartment for the insects, but believes his neighbor had done nothing to rid his apartment, thus causing the bed bugs to re-invade his apartment. The victim stated that while trying to convince the suspect to do something about it, the suspect released his dog on the victim and order it to attack. The dog reportedly bit the victim in the hand and on the back of his leg and then the suspect allegedly picked up a stick and hit the victim in the head. Police say a witness at the scene confirmed confirmed the victim's account of events. A review of criminal charges has been forwarded to the LaPorte County Prosecutor's Office for review.
