The CEO of Methodist Hospitals in Gary and Merrillville has announced he is resigning at the end of the month. Ian McFadden, who served in the post since September 2008, says he wants to pursue an academic career and other consulting and business opportunities. Dr. Michael Davenport, vice president of medical affairs, is assuming the role of interim president and CEO.
"I am very proud of what we have accomplished here at Methodist during the past five years, from undergoing a $73 million turnaround to placing Methodist as one of the top-rated hospitals in Indiana and the Chicagoland area," McFadden said in a statement Tuesday.
“During this time, I have had the opportunity to see Methodist become a leader in technology and a top provider of quality specialized medicine in the NWI region and, more importantly, develop a culture that is focused on employee and physician engagement and patient service excellence,” McFadden said. “We have been fortunate to receive numerous awards and accolades during the past five years, and I am confident that Methodist will continue to excel at being one of the premier health care providers in the region. “ [Photo/Methodist Hospitals]
