Jennifer Lopez may be thinking life is funny after some scientists gave her name to a water mite species they discovered near Puerto Rico. Biologist Vladimir Pesic of the University of Montenegro said in an email on Wednesday that the group was entertained during its research by the music of the Bronx, New York-born artist who has Puerto Rican roots. Pesic calls it a small token of gratitude for the singer. Pesic is the corresponding author of the study published Tuesday in the peer-reviewed online journal ZooKeys. The Journal humorously states their reasoning for naming the mite after the popular Latin pop star. “The reason behind the unusual choice of name for the new species that J.Lo's songs and videos kept the team in a continuous good mood when writing the manuscript and watching World Cup Soccer 2014,”

Britney Spears tipped a waitress $100 after forgetting to pay her bill. Brit felt ''horrible'' after she and her boyfriend, David Lucado, mistakenly walked out of The Cheesecake Factory in Thousand Oaks, California without settling their $30 bill after eating an appetizer and a salad there this week. A source told TMZ that Spears decided to give the waitress that served her a 300 percent tip on top of the bill after she was made aware of her blunder. A source previously said the couple told the waitress that her bodyguard would pay the bill and left with a doggie bag of leftovers. But the security guard never paid, as he thought Britney had already done it.

Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco, the stars of The Big Bang Theory, are without contracts, even though CBS has renewed the popular sitcom for three additional seasons. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter there hasn’t been any movement in the negotiations since they began last September, but a deal is expected to be reached before the eighth season debuts in September. The cast also is expected to return to work on the show at the end of the month when production begins, with or without contracts. Parsons and Galecki, who play physicists Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, respectively, and Cuoco, who portrays Penny, an aspiring actress, currently earn $325,000 per episode. They're seeking up to $1 million per half-hour and are expected to negotiate together, a source tells the industry trade publication.
