Endangered Bee Spotted More than Once

There has been much concern over declining bee populations; one unexpected discovery is providing some hope in this Midwestern city. A rusty patched bumble bee was spotted more than once over the past few months by Iowa State students and alumni – an endangered species of bee not seen in Ames, Iowa, for at least three years, according to a Prairie Rivers of Iowa news release. One of the grad students, who’s been working with other Iowa State students to make the public more aware of bees and the need for conservation efforts to improve their habitat, says they’re hoping to raise awareness of the native bees flying all around us. Here is a link to read more about their discovery.
