First Responders Rescue Stranded Dolphin

In Long Island, New York, a dolphin is now back in deeper waters with help from several local rescue crews. Low tide Tuesday in Manhasset Bay stranded the dolphin on the muddy shoreline until Marine Bureau officers responded. They were able to lift the mammal onto a kayak and drag the vessel through several hundred feet of mud as local firefighters in a boat helped guide the dolphin back to safety. Multiple Nassau County agencies took part in the two-hour long effort.
