Humane Society Calumet Area’s Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (MRWRC) will host an open house with a chance to meet wildlife and enjoy fun activities for all ages on September 24 from noon to 3 p.m. at the center, 570 N. 450 E., Valparaiso, Ind.
“MRWRC’s open house offers the public an opportunity to learn about Indiana native wildlife and get an up-close view of the center’s ambassador animals,” MRWRC’s director and licensed rehabilitator Stephanie Kadletz said.
The event features hands-on kids’ activities, a bake sale, and information about wildlife species and how to help our wild neighbors. Visitors also can meet MRWRC’s educational ambassador animals—Eastern Screech Owl, Red-tailed Hawk, Eastern Box Turtle, American Crow and Corn Snake.
Guests to the open house are asked to bring a supply donation from MRWRC’s wish list, which can be found at www.mrwildliferehab.org/wishlist.asp, or a monetary donation to the open house. Proceeds benefit MRWRC’s injured and orphaned wildlife.

About Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center
MRWRC was founded in 1997 by a group of wildlife rehabilitators and enthusiasts. Its primary mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and return orphaned and injured wildlife to the wild.
