The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will host a hike at an abandoned recreation area downstate at Patoka Lake in Birdseye. The hike will reveal the original use for the area. The guided hike is Sunday April 18th at 1pm. Advance registration is required, and space is limited. For more information, call the Patoka Lake Nature Center at 812-685-2447 to reserve a spot by Friday, April 16 at 1 p.m. Eastern. The entrance fee of $7 per vehicle for Indiana residents and $9 for out-of-state vehicles is required for Newton-Stewart SRA, which is located north of Wickliffe on State Road 164.
