Veteran Plants Daffodils Along Illinois Highway

In downstate Illinois, about a half-hour east of St. Louis, motorists are treated to an early sign of Spring thanks to the efforts of a World War Two Navy veteran. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) says 95-year-old retired teacher Joseph Cunningham has been planting daffodils along Illinois 4 for about 35 years “and shows no signs of slowing down”.
