Indiana Dunes National Park has announced an online maple sugaring program for the spring. Despite the cold temperatures and layers of snow on the ground, the Pokagon Band of the Potawatomi have been tapping maple trees for centuries, no matter the weather, and continue to maintain an active sugar bush on their lands. Participants in the virtual maple-sugaring program will learn about those traditions and how they continue today in 2021. A virtual talk will be held on Monday, February 22nd at 6:30pm central time and will take viewers through the annual Maple Sugar Time festival at Indiana Dunes National Park. The virtual Zoom event is free, but requires registration.
