Gary/Chicago International Airport Receives $3.5 Million U.S. Department of Transportation Grant

Gary/Chicago International Airport has received a $3.5 million federal transportation grant. The City of Gary calls the grant a critical component in much-needed rehabilitation of the airport’s main runway, as well as needed maintenance on taxiways, approaches and aprons, and the ability to further support cargo service, including new tenant, UPS. Gary/Chicago International Airport—Chicago’s third official airport—has quickly become a major cargo hub and critical partner in the Chicago airport system.
