• Masks will be worn by all Goodwill Staff
• Masks are strongly recommended for guests who are working closer than 6 feet with anyone else

Some skills you will obtain are marketing and ad fundamentals across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and others, establishing platform presence, creating and managing ads, reporting and measurement, and brand management and marketing strategy. This certificate program, developed by Facebook, and hosted on Coursera, is a 10-week program with 6 to 8 hours of independent study per week, one virtual class per month, and weekly support check-ins with a mentor.

Goodwill Career Centers are offering the NorthStar Digital Literacy Project Basic Computer Skills Certification. In the training you will complete numerous tasks that will be assessed online through self-guided modules. Included are basic computer digital literacy standards and modules in the areas of Basic Computer Use, Internet Basics, Windows and Mac Operating Systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with Email, Social Media and Information Literacy. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum level certificates are offered upon demonstrating competency and passing each level.

Summer Kickoff Job Fair

Goodwill Community Career Center has partnered with Goodwill Group Violence Initiative (GVI), Gary Economic Development Corporation, and Gary For Life to host a Job Fair. It will include the following employers: Luke Gas Station, Resolve Human Resources, Staff Source, Minority Contractors Collaboration, Jerk 2 Go, Clean Harbors, Goodwill Stores, Performance Plus, Protecting Families – Anthem, McDonalds, Campagna Academy, Alliance Steel, Safe Haven Academy, Southshore Railcats, Gary Police Commission, City of Gary Human Resources, Right at Home, In-Home Care & Assistance, Jupiter Aluminum, and many more employers to fill various positions.
Goodwill has allocated two different times for individuals who are re-entry or justice involved separate from the public. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply prior to the event so on-the-spot interviews can take place and start dates can be conducted. Career Center computers will be available to complete applications and / or print your resume to give to employers.

Basic Computer Skills Workshop
• Thursday, June 10th / 9:00 am to 3:00 pm – by appointment only
Do you have learning barriers with utilizing the computer? Do you want to learn how to use the computer on a basic skill level? Feel free to attend the Basic Computer Skills workshop to learn the basics of the computer starting with the mouse and ports. Workshops will be offered once within the month and participants will have the opportunity to earn a certificate. Resolve Human Resources Hiring Event, Tuesday June 22nd / 11:30am – 2:30 pm

Staffing and recruiting company Resolve Human Resources serves as a scalable human resource infrastructure for businesses of any size. Resolve Human Resources will have open interviews and employment assignments available upon interview with recruiters. Resumes can be submitted prior to this event and all walk-ins are accepted.

Microsoft Word Beginner Workshop

In this workshop, individuals will learn terminology in Microsoft Word, create a basic document, edit and format text, add tables and graphic elements to a document, control a document’s page setup and its overall appearance. Participants will also learn how to utilize the ribbon and word screen, quick access toolbar, navigate the page, cut, copy, paste and format text with fonts and colors, bullets and numbering, indents and line spacing. After the workshop, individuals will be provided worksheets to help retain knowledge and practice activities on Microsoft Word.

All Career Center Events are free and open to the public. The Gary Community Career Center is at the corner of West Ridge and Clark Roads.
