Indiana Unemployment Applications at Historical High

Indiana’s unemployment claims are skyrocketing, according to Fred Payne, Commissioner of the Department of Workforce Development. Payne says the department is adapting its approach and that all claims will be processed.  Payne says the State of Indiana’s goal is to process all claims as quickly and efficiently as possible.  The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has updated its unemployment insurance administrative infrastructure to accommodate all changes needed to comply with Governor Eric Holcomb’s Executive Order related to the COVID-19 emergency.  Payne says a new telephone application process will begin next week, but that the online application process remains the most efficient way to apply.  Payne says the State of Indiana has made over 169,000 unemployment insurance payments over the last two weeks alone.
