Local Walks to End Alzheimer’s Will Be Virtual, Distant

The 2020 Lake County and Michigan City Walks To End Alzheimer’s will look a bit different this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter encourages participants to walk as individuals or in small groups on sidewalks, tracks and trails. The Lake County walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th, and the Michigan City walk is set for Saturday, October 10th. Executive Director for the Greater Indiana Chapter, Natalie Sutton, says participants continue to raise much-needed funds for the over 100 caregiver support groups and education programs to residents across Indiana. A small group of staff and volunteers will create a virtual Promise Garden at both walks to honor all those impacted by Alzheimer’s. New features are being added to walk days, including a mobile connectivity app, featuring a distance tracker and and audio tracks offering messages of encouragement to participants.
