Purdue Extension Program: Communicating with Farmers Under Stress

Purdue Extension-Porter County is offering a free program December 13, 2019, on Communicating with Farmers Under Stress, raising awareness about numerous factors that may cause stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, indecision, or even suicidal thoughts for farmers and their families.  Organizers say one obvious reason for stress is this year’s catastrophic weather events, but also included may be financial problems, price and marketing uncertainties, farm transfer issues, production challenges, etc.
In this program, participants will:

• Learn stress triggers
• Identify signs of stress
• Review helpful techniques for responding
• Learn where to go for additional help
