In Valparaiso, the city is preparing to break ground for improvements along Eisenhower Avenue from about Crockett Avenue to Sturdy Road. The announcement from Mayor Matt Murphy said the work includes replacing roadway and water main, installing new stormwater drainage, and curbs, gutters and sidewalks where none existed. Water main replacement will begin the first week of May followed by road construction beginning in early June and construction is expected to be complete late this summer. “We’re very pleased to bring this positive project to the neighborhood. Certainly, improving the roadway and underground services will be welcome. But the neighbors are just as excited about the addition of sidewalks, adding walkability, safety and accessibility,” said Murphy. The public is invited to a groundbreaking event to kick off the project at 4 pm this Thursday April 29 at the intersection of Eisenhower and Crockett avenues.
