Valparaiso University has announced an interim President-Elect. Colette Irwin-Knott, a member of Valparaiso University’s Board of Directors for the past decade, will begin serving in that role effective September first. Last August Mark Heckler recommended to the Board of Directors that they begin the search process for his successor. Heckler,who became the university’s 18th president in 2008, will transition leadership responsibilities to Irwin-Knott next month, then become President Emeritus. In that role he will continue fundraising efforts for Forever Valpo: The Campaign for Our Future, a $250 million endowment campaign. Irwin-Knott graduated from Valparaiso University with a bachelor of science. She spent her career in the field of public finance with H-J Umbaugh and Associates in Indianapolis, retiring as a partner in the firm in 2014.
