Town of St. John Announces Facilities Closures Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The Town of St. John announced today all town facilities are closed until further notice as the community continues its response to the COVID-19 outbreak. In a live-streamed press conference, St. John officials announced they will follow Governor Eric Holcomb’s mandate while continuing as best as possible t provide community services. A Times report says St. John Police Chief Steve Flores police officers will continue to provide service, but that in addition to emergencies, non-emergency situations and calls—even for crimes not in progress—should be dealt with by calling 911 to report the incident and leave contact information so that officers can follow up. Gun-permit applications, and vehicle VIN inspections have been suspended until April 13th. Flores stressed to residents how important it is to follow Governor Holcomb’s mandate and stay at home except for essential trips to buy groceries, food, medicine or seek medical attention, adding that St. John police officers do have the authority to enforce the governor’s orders.
