The Indiana Department of Health announced today Hoosiers ages 5 to 11 are now eligible for a free COVID-19 vaccine following Tuesday’s authorization of the pediatric vaccine by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Pfizer vaccine is the only COVID-19 vaccine currently authorized for use in individuals under age 18, health officials said, and it will be available on a walk-in basis this afternoon (4 to 8 p.m. ET) at the vaccination clinic outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with additional locations being updated throughout the day at www.ourshot.in.gov . Thursday morning, November 4th, parents can begin scheduling an appointment for their child at that website or by calling 211. Supplies may be limited initially as shipments arrive on a staggered basis; state health officials also say the pediatric dose is lower than the dosage for ages 12 and older, so parents should ensure they visit a site that carries the pediatric dosage.
