In Northwest Indiana, the National Weather Service Chicago says a short-lived tornado occurred in south Lake County Friday night, traveling about five miles from near Cedar Lake toward Crown Point. There were no reports of injuries. They said it’s the first December tornado confirmed in the National Weather Service Chicago forecast area since 1973. The National Weather Service also tweeted the Cedar Lake to Crown Point tornado Friday night was the first recorded December tornado in and around the Chicago metropolitan area since consistent records began in 1950. Forecasters say the tornado, ranked EF-0, the lowest on the intensity scale, damaged roofs and at least one utility pole. Here is a link for more details.
