The Region at-large stands to benefit from announcements made Tuesday in Indianapolis. Governor Eric Holcomb, Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors announced the READI (ready) awards for the 17 regions that submitted project proposals. Northwest Indiana led by the Northwest Indiana Forum was awarded 50-million dollars for projects in Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Starke, Pulaski, Jasper and Newton counties. The 17 regions amounted to more than $1.5 billion in demand and detailed nearly 800 projects and programs with a potential investment of $15.2 billion. “READI” stands for Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative.
